Yesterday, I went to Bay Shore Library in Long Beach, CA to participate in a panel discussion about Women's Fiction with seven other authors, including Cindy Arora, Laura Dave, Lisa Doyle, Liz Fenton, Anna Garner, Lucie Simone, and Juliette Sobanet. What a lovely event! I had such a great time meeting everyone in person, and we had a good turnout, too. Moderator Joel Zlotnik asked us questions about why we write Women's Fiction, where we get our ideas from, the merit of Women's Fiction and defending the genre, the influence of reviews, other women writers we're reading now, what our latest novels are about, and the differences between Romance, Chick Lit, and Women's Fiction. It was a well-rounded, lively, and informative discussion, and audience members got to ask their own questions at the end, too. Afterwards, authors sold and signed books, and everyone enjoyed cupcakes from Frosted Cupcakery. Thanks so much to Lucie Simone for organizing this wonderful event! And thank you to those who attended. I hope everyone had a good time! I look forward to the next author event!
